located on a hillside in stuttgart, this family flat is part of a terraced residential complex with a view towards the city centre. these maisonette apartments are characterized by a large living room open over two floors and spacious outdoor terraces.
limited to a planning and construction time of three months, and to keep costs to a minimal, only slight interventions were made to structural elements, a few walls were taken down and only one was built. existing building fabric, such as the parquet flooring on the entrance area were kept and integrated into the design concept. interior stairs were preserved and protection balustrades added.
though the bedrooms are small, there are enough common areas to compensate this, so that familial dialogue is maintained throughout the day.
