the beauty and tranquil landscape of Holy Island, called for a structural that caused minimal intervention to the landscape; in its construction and use. our proposal, a building made with prefabricated steel and aluminum elements, manufactured in the shipyards from the nearby ship building industry. it could be easily constructed without damaging the natural surroundings. the monks preferred rooms that focussed inwards; all common rooms were arranged in the middle, which are illuminated with zenith lighting. the circular floor plan places monk’s cells in equal footing forming a perimeter to the common areas which are centrally located.
